Sharing my valuable insights and experiences as a passionate writer who has late diagnosed Autism (and ADHD).

To preface this article, I want to tell you that my High School English Teacher did not in fact waste her time sitting with me in her empty class room during lunch periods to go over my writing skills. Neither did my English Professor who red penned his students’ papers to death to drive home the importance of quality over quantity and intellectual delivery using proper grammar. I took his course three times just to get an A because I knew he was teaching GOLD standard when it came to writing great work and properly analyzing literature.

What I did not know then that I know now… is that I am actually Autistic and have ADHD, as well as have several learning disabilities. Why does this matter in this piece and how is that relevant towards my writing skills? I think my unique skills and creative lens are due in part to my Autistic and ADHD characteristics.

My way of storytelling is heavily influenced by how I see the world and how I paint my perspectives for the world. I want to give you a few tips on how to be a better writer, not just borrowing from the awesome advice from past teachers in my life but from my style of delivery and structure as an Autistic person.
