Reflecting on 16 years as a mother, since first becoming a mother at 16.

Happy Mothers Day to all the Cyclebreakers of Generational Trauma.

Holding my 5 month old daughter at my H.S. Graduation

It’s my 16th Mothers day today. Holy crap. I was 16 when I became a mother for the first time. My daughter is going to be 16 this year. Wow, time flies.

I'm now estranged from my parents legally for 15 years. I haven't seen my mother face to face since that court hearing. Back when I had my daughter during my senior year of High school, I was dealing with a LOT of things that could have broken me as a person. It wasn't a blissful pregnancy and it wasn't a thrill for mine nor the guys families. It was stressful. Shameful. And ultimately I was safest leaving everything behind to go live with relatives.

I sincerely have ZERO memory of 16 years ago on this day. It was during the most chaos and stress of my life. I do remember BOTH my mother and the guys mother CURSING me.

No... not profanity.... like a hex.

They both told me with anger that they hoped I had a daughter (I didn't know gender til that july). They hoped I'd have a daughter that GETS PREGNANT and is a NUISANCE like me.

I did not know then I was being emotionally, mentally, and physically abused by every caretaker in my life as well as what could have been my inlaw.
